Lake Oswego Named Oregon’s #1 School District

    The Lake Oswego School District has been named Oregon’s best public school district, according to Niche’s 2020 Best Schools in America report. Niche, which is a national organization, assessed the U.S.’s school districts and assigned grades based on academics, health, safety, and other criteria to both the districts and the individual schools.

    Out of all of the public schools in Oregon, Lake Oswego High School was ranked in the number 2 spot, with Lakeridge High School following in the number 4 position. Though Lakeridge was lower on the list than Lake Oswego, its teachers were ranked the best in the state. In Niche’s report, the Lake Oswego School District as a whole was honored as the district with the best teachers in Oregon.

    On the report card, the district received an A+ grade in the categories of academics, teachers, and college prep, and received an A- in health and safety. The clubs category received a B, while the area with the lowest score was the diversity category, coming in with a C grade. Based on Niche’s criteria, the diversity category was assessed based on racial and economic diversity, survey responses on school culture, and diversity from parents and students.
