A couple years ago the advertising campaign, “Seven Wonders of Oregon,” was launched by Travel Oregon. According to Oregon’s tourism promotion group, the ad was so successful they extended it for another year.
With visitor spending reaching historical highs, the latest figures show that in 2015, Oregon tourism spending reached $10.6 billion! That’s a 4.7 percent increase over last year’s numbers and has outrun the national average increase of 4.5 percent. With such heavy marketing efforts, the state is now gaining extreme international attention. International visitors in 2015 saw almost double-digit growth, accounting for over 12 percent of total tourism dollars.
Improvements in overall economic conditions, including low fuel prices, low unemployment and consumer confidence numbers above 90, have all strongly benefited from the state’s growing tourism industry. The travel and tourism industry now supports over 105,600 jobs!
