According to Money Magazine’s annual list of best places to live, Portland ranked in the top 6th best large cities and Beaverton made it into this year’s top ten small cities!
Money produces a ranking of small cities (cities with populations between 50 and 300k) based on 60 factors related to culture, the job market, economic opportunity, affordability and even weather. Beaverton was ranked as No. 9, with a median home price of $319,950 (up about 11% from last year), an average property tax of $4,399 and an unemployment rate at 4.7 percent.
The magazine named Portland its “Best of the West” selection out of its “6 Best Big Cities” list (cities with populations greater than 300k). With its median home price at $349,000, average property tax at $4,285, unemployment rate of 4.7 percent and a job-growth rate of 3.3 percent.
