Oregon is known for its amazing outdoor adventures, and for the outdoor lover, the Portland Metro Tri-Counties area can be a dream come true thanks to all of the hiking trails. From beginner to more advanced, there truly is something for everyone.
Today I am sharing Noble Woods Trail, located at 475 SE Century Blvd. in Hillsboro, Oregon. The trail is approximately 1.1 miles long and is part of the 38-acre Noble Woods Nature Park. This trail is considered an easy hike by AllTrails, with a 65-foot elevation change and the high point being 190 feet. For this reason, the trail is considered family-friendly, and you can even bring along your furry four-legged family members so long as they are on a leash if you have littles who are still in a stroller or for those in a wheelchair, you will want to be aware that the most accessible portion of the trail is the paved portion of the north loop from approximately .2-.7 miles. Most of the trail is graded gently at 5% or less.
If you are not into hiking, the park is a wonderful place for a picnic lunch. You will find restrooms and drinking fountains at the beginning of the trail heads – one on SE Century and the other on E. Main. While you enjoy your lunch, you will be surrounded by various plant life. The Doug Fir and Big Leaf Maple trees will provide ample shade, while Oregon grape and sword ferns allow you to forget that you are in the city.
If you decide to take a quick after-lunch walk, you will be fascinated to see the beaver activity and crawfish at Rock Creek. You will also notice that the park is home to some invasive plant life which includes English laurel, holly, and ivy. If you have ever dealt with ivy in your yard, you will know how quickly it can grow and choke out plant life.
